Chapter 15: Confrontation "Thank you."

Su Nian offered a faint smile, her mind unsettled. All the way here, she had hesitated, unsure whether she should report Shen Yuhuan. The police officers were warm and welcoming; seeing the gauze wrapped around Su Nian's head, they immediately invited her and Tang Shi to sit down.

"She's here? Wasn't she injured?"

Shen Yuxi showed a hint of surprise. He strode decisively toward the door, but as he passed Shen Yuhuan, he asked earnestly, "Do you remember why I named you 'Huan'?"

Shen Yuhuan's gaze flickered, his entire body tensing for an instant. Shen Yuhuan—Huan as in joy.

"Am I not happy now?"

He lowered his eyes, his smile languid.

"Let's go out; we shouldn't keep little Nian Nian waiting."

Su Nian clutched a warm cup, her eyes darting about as she kept glancing toward the doorway on the second floor.

"Mr. Shen…"

As soon as she spotted Shen Yuxi, she broke into a bright smile, but when Shen Yuhuan came into view behind him, her expression froze. She had forgotten that Shen Yuhuan was the police station's psychological consultant; with a homicide just occurring on the beach this morning, it was highly likely he would be at the station. Su Nian muttered under her breath. Shen Yuhuan was truly audacious—a criminal yet openly coming and going from the police station.

"You're injured; why are you running around?"

Shen Yuhuan acted as if there were no boundaries, stepping forward to affectionately brush Su Nian's small face. Leaning down, he whispered by her ear like a lover, "I'll worry."

Su Nian's expression stiffened, her heart shrinking in fear. She cast a pleading look toward Shen Yuxi.

"Mind your behavior; don't make a scene."

Shen Yuxi reached out to pull him away and sat properly in a chair. Unexpectedly, Shen Yuhuan patted his shoulder, smiling ambiguously.

"Don't be shy."

That inexplicable remark left Su Nian completely baffled. She glanced curiously at Shen Yuxi, only to notice the tips of his ears turning slightly red. Shen Yuxi straightened his expression and asked in a formal tone, "What do you need from me?"

There was a kind of telepathy between twins; when Shen Yuhuan touched Su Nian, he too had felt that soft, tender sensation.

"I want to file for divorce. Do you have any official lawyers to recommend?" Su Nian asked after a moment's thought.

"The kind with deep connections, ones who can intimidate my husband."

Though her words sounded fierce, considering the lollipop he'd given her, she didn't truly intend to sue. Sixteen years ago, Gu Yichen had given her a lollipop and warmth. Although he had hurt her later, their youthful bond still remained; she simply wished to end the marriage with dignity. Parting amicably, each finding their own happiness.

"Leave it to me,"

Shen Yuhuan volunteered readily.

"Isn't it divorce you want? That's my specialty. In every case I've handled, couples have never failed to separate."

The worst possible outcome had arrived. Su Nian had specifically come to the police station to avoid Shen Yuhuan, yet unfortunately, she had run into him anyway.

"No need; don't trouble yourself. Isn't there a homicide case? I won't disturb you."

Su Nian quickly declined, pulling Tang Shi toward the exit.

"Tang Tang, let's go."

Watching Su Nian's retreating figure, Shen Yuhuan asked with a half-smile, "Don't you think Su Nian seems afraid of me?"

Su Nian clearly had his phone number; if she wanted to contact Shen Yuxi, she could have simply asked him for it. Instead, she chose to avoid him, enduring her injury to personally rush to the public security bureau.

"More than afraid—she's avoiding you,"

Shen Yuxi replied, his tone rising slightly with a hint of question.

Shen Yuhuan smiled ambiguously again. What was she afraid of? Surely she hadn't discovered his true identity?

"Impossible, right?" Shen Yuhuan chuckled softly, lazily stretching.

"I'll be off then."

He stepped out of the police station. Sunlight fell upon him, spreading a soft halo that only enhanced his elegance and nobility. Su Nian had disappeared! Tang Shi had only gone to the restroom; when she returned, Su Nian was nowhere to be found. At their original seats, only two glasses of half-finished juice remained. She called—no answer. She texted—no reply. Tang Shi hurried back to the fresh drink shop, intending to ask the staff to take her to the surveillance room to check the footage.

Just then, Su Nian's call came through.

"Tang Tang, I'm fine. I just feel uneasy and want to walk alone for a while."

Su Nian's voice sounded perfectly normal, except for a slight tremor at the end of her sentences. Tang Shi exhaled in relief but also felt a flicker of irritation.

"Nian Nian! How could you sneak off like that? Don't you know how worried I'd be? I thought you'd been kidnapped!"

On this outing, due to the special nature of their errands, neither of them had brought bodyguards.

"Alright, alright, I'll let you know once I'm safely home," Su Nian said with a bright smile.

"I promise I'll be back soon, within an hour at most."

After exchanging a few more words, she hung up and cast her round, lively eyes sideways.

"Within an hour at most?"

Shen Yuhuan's lips curled slightly as he spoke with deliberate implication.

"Don't you know that many things can happen within just one hour?"

He brought the car to a halt, his tone rising playfully.

"For instance…"

Su Nian reached for the door handle, ready to bolt, but her skirt was suddenly grabbed, leaving her unable to pull free.

"What exactly is wrong with you? Unlawful confinement is illegal!" she demanded fiercely, frowning in frustration.

She couldn't believe she was trying to reason about law with a criminal. Shen Yuhuan pressed a button, flattening all the seats, then gently tapped the tip of her nose.

"Be good, and close the door."

His hand rested on her shoulder as he leaned closer, noticing her obvious tension.

"Tell me, why are you afraid of me?"

Su Nian paused briefly, feeling somewhat relieved inside.

"I'm not afraid of you. It's just that you're not what you seem. I thought you were gentle and kind-hearted, but clearly… of course I should stay away from you."

So Shen Yuhuan had also been suspicious, testing her.

"Little liar, you don't even blush when you lie."

Shen Yuhuan closed the car door, his words and actions unpredictable. Su Nian fell backward, and he顺势 pressed himself above her, stroking her cheek again.

"Your skin is so smooth, well-moisturized and glowing. Have you been living well all these years?"

Su Nian shivered, her voice stiffening slightly.

"I'm married. Don't act like this."

"Discussing ethics and morality with me?"

Shen Yuhuan grinned broadly, poking her dimple.

"Didn't you know my moral compass is severely skewed?"

Su Nian was left speechless.

Just then, her phone rang—it was Gu Yichen calling.

"Why aren't you answering?" Shen Yuhuan asked with an amused smile.

Su Nian glared fiercely at him, so angry she felt her lungs might explode. No matter what, Gu Yichen was still her husband; how could she possibly take his call under these circumstances? Did Gu Yichen's infidelity mean she should betray their marriage too? Su Nian's eyes reddened slightly, her lips pressed tightly together in an expression of profound grievance. Shen Yuhuan's gaze softened subtly.

"You only cry when you've been wronged."

Su Nian's mind raced. Could her tears actually be effective? She pinched her palm hard enough to make tears stream down her face.

"Stop crying,"

Shen Yuhuan frowned, looking at her reddened eyes.

"I only want to help you divorce and provoke that cold, heartless husband of yours."

With a swipe of his finger, he answered Gu Yichen's call, his voice dripping with tender affection.

"Nian Nian, you're so sweet. Let me kiss you once more."

"Author: Gu Zha comes sprinting forward, wielding a knife…"
