Chapter 4: Warmth "I'm out here looking for a man, and Gu Yichen doesn't care at all."

Su Nian's voice was hoarse, tinged with tears.

"He likes another woman…"

Gu Yichen withdrew his stiffened hand, his gaze rippling like water. On the phone, the young man's voice was playful: "Then go find a man. Is it because you're short on money and can't afford one, or because you can't find a high-quality guy? Look, I'm pretty great myself—definitely better than your husband. Shall I send you a bare-faced photo?" Su Nian chuckled at his tone.

"Sure~"

Hearing her laugh, Gu Yichen felt an inexplicable heat rise within him, spreading through his entire body. Yet Su Nian's laughter was so sweet and joyful, her voice soft and coquettish, like a kitten seeking affection. Ding! A color photo arrived. The young man asked eagerly, "Well?"

Obediently, Su Nian opened the image. Her eyes sparkled with crystalline light, her small face flushed pink from alcohol, delicate and irresistibly charming. Gu Yichen's gaze froze. His heart swelled, filled with a restless itch, as heat and agitation surged through every limb and fiber of his being. He quickly looked away, but not before catching sight of the photo on the screen. The man in the picture was handsome, with flawless, refined features. He wore a tranquil smile, his eyes tender and affectionate, resembling an angel who had descended to earth. Gu Yichen recognized that face. It was the same man who had held Su Nian in his arms earlier tonight. His eyes sharpened.

"Aren't you… that police officer?"

Su Nian tilted her head slightly. The young man's warm, smiling voice replied, "You must mean Xi. We're twins. His name is Shen Yuxi; I'm Shen Yuhuan."

Su Nian nodded innocently.

"You both look so handsome."

Her praise was utterly sincere.

"Handsome than your husband?"

the young man fired off rapidly.

"I can do laundry, cook, handle housework, and I'm gentle, considerate, and know how to stir things up. Isn't that better than your cold, rigid, heartless husband?"

Su Nian vaguely felt that if the young man had a tail, it would be wagging sky-high. Heavy breathing brushed against her ear, sending a slight shiver through Su Nian. Gu Yichen extended one finger and cut off the call. His expression remained blank, his eyes somewhat cold, yet inside he burned with agitation. Beep… beep… beep… After the call was disconnected from the other end, only a dial tone remained in the phone.

"Was that intentional?" Shen Yuxi asked calmly.

"The sound of the bathroom door opening proved her husband had finished his shower and come out," Shen Yuhuan replied, a faint smile on his lips.

His voice no longer carried the clear, sweet tenderness of a youth but instead exuded the lazy sensuality of a grown man.

"Besides, I've always advised separation, never reconciliation."

He stood up, dressed in casual white attire, elegant and noble.

"The moment she spoke, I understood her marriage was unhappy. If not divorce, then what are we waiting for?"

To comfort a woman suffering in an unhappy marriage, one must either play the role of a warm, understanding big brother or a playful little brother who knows how to make her smile. Today, in a good mood, he had chosen the latter. Shen Yuxi glanced at the time.

"It's already past midnight. Where are you going?"

"Of course, to prepare a surprise," Shen Yuhuan said with a sigh and a smile.

"You gave her my number; I dislike leaving things unfinished. Rest assured, I'm one hundred percent certain I can help her get divorced."

Shen Yuxi fell silent for a moment. His original intention in sharing the number had simply been to make Su Nian feel a little happier. ※ "Husband, what's wrong?"

Su Nian parted her vivid red lips slightly and stared blankly at the phone, now ended its call. Naturally gorgeous, her bewildered expression only added to her allure. Gu Yichen's gaze darkened, his breathing growing even more erratic. He clenched his fist tightly, restraining himself from rolling out of bed, but he couldn't find his phone, and the door was locked from the outside.

"Mom?"

His condition was highly abnormal. Except for Xu Qing, who would dare drug him? The room outside was empty; no one responded. Gu Yichen returned to the bed, picked up Su Nian's phone, and tried unlocking it with her fingerprint, but it failed.

"Su Nian, what's the passcode?"

Su Nian blinked, adorably innocent.

"Guess?"

Gu Yichen's blood boiled, his face flushing slightly as he struggled to restrain the surging desire. He tried entering his birthday digits, but unfortunately, the password was incorrect. What was Su Nian's birthday? Gu Yichen tossed aside his phone and hurried to the bathroom for a cold shower. Su Nian withdrew her blurred gaze, alone in the chilly room, clutching her phone and murmuring to herself: "It's your fingerprint, and our wedding anniversary…"

On their wedding night, she had secretly recorded Gu Yichen's fingerprint as the phone's biometric lock, then set their wedding anniversary as the backup passcode. Nearly an hour later, Gu Yichen finally emerged from the bathroom, his lips slightly pale. The autumn air was biting; after soaking in cold water for so long, his body temperature had dropped considerably. Su Nian curled up under the covers, her cheeks flushed like a pink lotus blooming in summer. Sensing movement beside her and that familiar scent drifting over, she instinctively snuggled closer, whispering affectionately and sweetly, "Husband…"

Gu Yichen's entire body was ice-cold. Pressed against by the girl's tender, warm form, his heart fluttered slightly, and those subsided flames of desire began surging anew. He pushed Su Nian away directly, saying coldly, "Stay away from me."

"Husband and wife should share hardships together, right? You're cold; let me warm you."

Su Nian let out a small alcoholic burp, her smile carrying a hint of foolishness. Gu Yichen rejected her indifferently: "No need. Our fortunes are unrelated."

Su Nian's long lashes trembled lightly. She opened her watery eyes, glanced at Gu Yichen, then closed them again. Clutching the blanket, she rolled over to the far side of the large bed. The covers slipped entirely off Gu Yichen, wrapping completely around Su Nian instead. Having just emerged from cold water, Gu Yichen still felt somewhat chilled despite the air conditioning running.

"Su Nian?"

His voice deepened several tones. Su Nian didn't respond. Gu Yichen grabbed the blanket and pulled. The covers spread out, but Su Nian顺势 rolled straight into his arms. Gu Yichen frowned slightly; suddenly, his temples throbbed with pain. Undeniably, the bed was comfortable, and Su Nian was indeed warming him with her body heat. Yet seeing Su Nian sleeping so soundly against his chest reminded him unavoidably of that decisive back turning away from him on a snowy night when he was twenty-one. Share hardships together? How ironic. Gu Yichen adjusted Su Nian's sleeping position, arranging for them to sleep on opposite sides of the bed, with at least half a meter separating them. * Su Nian was awakened by noise. A rumbling sound outside made her head pound violently. Opening her drowsy eyes, she saw Gu Yichen fastening his tie. Impeccably dressed in a sharp suit, his handsome features exuded nobility and cold indifference.

Su Nian stared blankly for a moment before her gaze dimmed.

"I've already signed the divorce papers; they're in the cabinet. Once you sign them, we'll go to the Civil Affairs Bureau."

Gu Yichen's fingers paused. His voice remained cool: "The company is in a critical growth phase with several important projects underway. Divorcing now would be inappropriate."

"But,"

Su Nian clenched her fingers tightly, feeling oppressed and breathless, "what does that have to do with me?"

Gu Yichen shifted his gaze from the mirror to Su Nian, who lay half-propped on the bed. Her hair was slightly tousled from sleep, making her appear even cuter than usual.

"Why are you so eager to divorce?" he asked expressionlessly.

Su Nian's heart ached sharply. Struggling to hold back the heat rising in her eyes, she unleashed all her grievances at once: "I won't obstruct your intimate moments with Shen Wanrou, so don't obstruct my search for a new spring!"

Gu Yichen's gaze carried subtle pressure as he watched Su Nian clutching the corner of the blanket. Her eyes were clearly reddened, yet she stubbornly bristled with defensiveness.

"Even if I agreed to divorce, your father would never approve."

He lowered his eyelids slightly and glanced at his wristwatch.

"Is one wedding anniversary really so important that you've been causing scenes from last night until today?"

Su Nian's eyes grew sore and hot; tears finally rolled down her cheeks. Awkwardly shifting her gaze away, she noticed petal rain falling outside the window—entirely pink roses, her favorite flowers. So romantic, so beautiful! Stunned, Su Nian walked toward the balcony, reaching out to catch a tiny parachute descending gently, with a lollipop tied beneath it.It was precisely her favorite mango flavor. Gu Yichen stood on the balcony, frowning, his eyes reflecting the soft, warm sunlight yet remaining cold, as if tinged with a chill. Su Nian stared in astonishment as the dozen or so planes circling overhead suddenly rearranged themselves to form characters. She whispered them aloud: "The world is vast; men are everywhere."

Boom! A massive firework soared into the blue sky. Even in broad daylight, the message formed by the fireworks was clearly visible—an English phrase: "Happy Divorce!"

Happy Divorce!
