Chapter 27: You Know Each Other, Right?

Seeing the obvious stunned expression on his handsome face, Xu Yannuo raised an eyebrow, her smile growing even brighter. “What a coincidence, desk mate.” Surprise or not? Expected or not? You tall, handsome troublemaker who keeps pissing off your Brother Nuo all day long.

Chen Ciyi continued to stare at her in shock, clearly not expecting to run into her here. He opened his mouth but couldn’t manage to say a word for a long while.

Noticing this, Xu Yannuo’s smile deepened. She tapped her fingers on the table and suddenly leaned closer to him. “Guess you didn’t expect to see me outside school after all the mischief you’ve caused, huh?”

Chen Ciyi looked at Xu Yannuo—he truly hadn’t anticipated her sudden appearance here. He frequented this café often but had never once seen her before. Now, thinking about Wang Sinan, who had just gone to order and would return soon, Chen Ciyi grew uneasy. Wang Sinan had no idea about his recent transfer or his deliberate provocations—what if the truth came out…

New grudges, old hatreds, and deceit.

Would Xu Yannuo beat him to death right away?

Thinking about the bizarre scene of the two of them chasing each other around the coffee shop, it’s quite possible Xu Yannuo was holding a mop handle—since one was currently lying at the entrance to the coffee shop’s restroom, likely left there by the cleaning lady who hadn’t had time to put it away yet…

OMG, the mental image was too much—Chen Ciyi didn’t dare dwell on it any longer!

After a series of uncomplicated yet brutally straightforward internal debates, Chen Ciyi’s first words blurted out were, “Spare me, desk mate!”

Xu Yannuo knew he was cowardly, but she didn’t expect him to cave in so quickly this time. For a moment, she was stunned, but it lasted only a few seconds. Just as she was about to say something, Chen Ciyi interrupted her directly, “Deskmate, I was wrong. You should leave.”

“……” Xu Yannuo laughed speechlessly.

After causing trouble at school, now he’s telling her to leave? “What if I don’t go?”

“If you don’t leave…” Then I’ll go, but it seems too late now.

Chen Ciyi hadn’t finished speaking when footsteps approached from beside them, stopping right by their table.

Then, both Chen Ciyi and Xu Yannuo looked up simultaneously at the newcomer. Standing beside their table was a very tall boy holding a tray with a cup of coffee, a hot chocolate, and two round pastries. His attire clearly indicated he wasn’t a waiter. Though dressed simply in a plain black T-shirt and jeans, it was immediately obvious that—just like Chen Ciyi—he was a well-bred child from a privileged family, radiating sunshine and confidence, with eyes that revealed nothing but simplicity and purity.

The boy was looking at her with a face full of surprise. Then, he turned his gaze to Chen Ciyi. After a moment, as if struck by a thought, he turned back to her, his face alight with joy and eyes brimming with laughter.

What does this mean?

After locking eyes with the boy for a few seconds, Xu Yannuo turned to Chen Ciyi and asked, “Do you know each other?”

Chen Ciyi also shifted his gaze away from Wang Sinan’s face and looked at Xu Yannuo.

Afterward, Xu Yannuo heard two voices simultaneously.

One came from Chen Ciyi across from him—a resolute “No, I don’t know her.”

The other came from the person standing beside him—an excited “Yes, we know each other!”

So, do they know each other or not?

Xu Yannuo doubted for only 0.01 seconds before realizing—they must know each other.

Not just because of the way the guy had glanced at them, but also because the meal in his hands was clearly for two. When she first arrived, Chen Ciyi’s table had been empty—evidently, the food on the tray was meant for both of them. For some reason, though, Chen Ciyi didn’t want her to know they were acquainted.

Xu Yannuo smiled and gave up the chair outside, moving directly to sit inside. “You sit here,” he said.

After that, the boy happily took the seat. Once seated, he immediately turned to Chen Ci and couldn’t wait to ask, “So this is Little White Rabbit?”

Xu Yannuo frowned and froze for a moment—what the hell is this “little white rabbit” about?

Chen Chenyi took a deep breath while glancing out the window, then turned his gaze to Wang Sinan across from him. “I should thank you for not outright calling me ‘Brother Yi,’ huh? And this is the ‘little white rabbit’? You’re asking pretty directly, aren’t you?”

Wang Sinan, sitting across from him, completely missed Chen Ciyi’s warning glance and even pressed further, “Isn’t that right? The little white rabbit avatar you were looking at in the Q group that night?”

At this moment, Xu Yannuo finally understood what the “little white rabbit” was—it was her QQ profile picture. However, she hadn’t set it herself; it was the default image assigned by the system when she created her QQ account.

After that, she heard the boy beside her gaze at her and exclaim, “No wonder he pays so much attention to you—you’re stunning! Pure yet alluring, beautiful yet bold! How do you manage to combine so many contradictory traits into one?”

Xu Yannuo was utterly speechless.

No one had ever described her so blatantly before. Outside school, no one dared; inside school, no one paid her any attention. Besides, she had no friends who would say such things to her—no, she simply had no friends to talk to at all, nor did she need any.

Seeing Wang Sinan’s words getting more and more outrageous, if this continued, the protagonist of that beautiful beating scene just now might not be him but Wang Sinan. Chen Chiyi took a deep breath and gave Wang Sinan another warning glance.

Seeing Chen Ciyi, who was usually in a lazy and detached state, now raising an eyebrow at him, Wang Sinan immediately realized he should shut his mouth and disappear right away—otherwise, nothing good would come of it.

He had just seen the real-life Little White Rabbit—alive, female, and sitting right across from First Brother. She was likely the first girl Chen Ciyi had ever paid attention to in his life, and he was instantly overwhelmed with excitement.

Now back to his normal self, Wang Sinan immediately stood up. “Sorry, you two, I must have mistaken you for someone else.” After saying this, he bowed to them and then, quite naturally, carried his tray over to an empty table next to theirs and sat down.

Watching the tray float away with Wang Sinan, Chen Ciyi frowned slightly. It was fine for him to leave, but why take the food along? Wang Sinan, you damn..

Wang Sinan had just sat down when he looked up and met Chen Ciyi’s gaze. Then, lowering his eyes to the double portion on his own tray, he suddenly realized his mistake. Immediately, he picked up the tray and walked over, placing it in front of them. “Um, as an apology, this is for you. I’ll go buy another one.”

Xu Yannuo reached out to stop them, “Stop pretending, you know each other, right?”

This time, it was Wang Sinan and Chen Ciyi’s turn to look at her. Xu Yannuo stood up and moved aside to let Wang Sinan take the inner seat. “Do I really look that stupid?” Xu Yannuo chuckled. “Go ahead and sit. I’ll be leaving soon anyway.”

Wang Sinan glanced at Chen Ciyi, who nodded and gave a warning look. With Chen Ciyi’s permission, Wang Sinan immediately returned an understanding look, then went in and sat down without saying a word.
