Pursuit Of  Jade

After her parents passed away, her childhood sweetheart broke off their engagement, and her relatives schemed to seize her family property. For the sake of her five-year-old younger sister, Fan Changyu decided to take in a husband.
She set her sights on a man she had rescued. He was covered in wounds, had nothing to his name, and only his handsome face was worth noting. The two quickly reached an agreement: she would shelter him and nurse him back to health, and in return, he would pretend to marry into her family to help her protect her inheritance.
Once the family business was secure, Fan Changyu prepared to write a letter of separation as promised. Unexpectedly, the imperial court began conscripting soldiers for war, and the man was taken away as a drafted laborer, vanishing without a trace.

When she saw him again, he lay in a wounded soldiers’ tent, covered in blood. His bloodstained face was as striking as ever, but his simple soldier’s uniform had been slashed to pieces. Seeing how harshly he had suffered in the army, Fan Changyu’s eyes reddened.

“Stop being a soldier. Come back. I’ll butcher pigs to support you.”

The man’s eyes were unfocused as he coughed up a mouthful of blood.

“You wanted to separate from me.”

With tears brimming in her eyes, Fan Changyu shook her head repeatedly.

“No, I won’t leave you. I won’t!”
