When No. 3 turned his head and looked downstairs, the player he fixed his gaze on suddenly seemed unable to move his feet.

No. 3’s ashen eyes swept around, as if searching for something. When his gaze fell on someone, a chilling laugh escaped from his cracked mouth.

That person was Player No. 2, who held the No. 2 bead and the No. 14 bead. The moment No. 3 stared over, No. 2 had an instant sinking feeling that he would likely be the next target.

Number Two happened to be closer to the kitchen. When Number Three, grinning like a beast, came charging over, Number Two spun around and bolted for the kitchen. Everyone thought he was going for a knife, but instead he rushed in, slammed the door shut at lightning speed, and deadbolted it from the inside.

Bang, bang, bang — the ear-splitting racket made even the living room floor feel like it was shaking. Number Three kept pounding on the door as if he could break it down that way. But the doors in the villa were made of exceptionally good material; pounding wouldn’t do the trick.

He couldn’t just kill Number Two; there were others. Right now Number Three had only one thought in his head: kill, kill more people. He wanted everyone to be like him.

Number Three turned his head and suddenly met a pair of eyes — eyes that were unusually calm. He remembered that young man; among all the players he was the most handsome and captivating, and also unbearably cold and proud.

Everyone here was no saint; dragged into this game space and facing all kinds of death threats, so why could the youth remain so calm, as if he felt no fear at all.

Number Three’s thoughts twisted, and that twisting spread outward, making his face look even more terrifying and menacing.

He hated that face; he wanted to destroy the youth’s fearlessness.

Number Three lunged at Qi Yang. Du Yong and Yuan Yuan frantically shouted to Qi Yang, urging him to run with them.

Qi Yang ran, but in a completely different direction from Du Yong and the others — in fact, he headed straight for Room 3.

Number 3 just thought Qi Yang was crazy—he seemed like a smart guy, but at a moment like this he really came up to throw his life away. Fine, then he’d indulge him.

Just as he was about to directly confront No. 3 and let the other man grab his throat, Qi Yang suddenly made a quick sidestep and slipped past No. 3. No. 3’s thinking was too straightforward—he assumed Qi Yang wanted to engage him, but Qi Yang turned and ran, and the person behind Qi Yang was Nan Sheng.

Qi Yang was in danger—Nan Sheng couldn’t possibly stand by. He nearly acted, reaching out as if to strangle Number 3, but he held himself back in time, because he remembered what Qi Yang had just told him: to go somewhere no one was around.

Qi Yang didn’t run upstairs after missing what was behind him; instead he headed toward the back of the living room, which also had a small garden. There weren’t many flowers planted, but there was a little fish pond.

As soon as Qi Yang fled, Number 3’s body twisted into a terrifying posture—starting with the head, which turned a full one hundred and eighty degrees, twisted to the back, and leaned toward where Qi Yang was fleeing, to the small pond. Number 3 knew that was a dead end; this person was truly going to his own death.

Number 3 chased after them, and following Number 3 was Nan Sheng.

The others, seeing those three run off toward the koi pond, felt mostly relieved—relieved that someone else had drawn away the transformed Number 3, making themselves much safer.

Some headed straight for the basement, closing the door behind them as soon as they entered; when people knocked outside, they didn’t open.

Others rushed into a room upstairs, staying together—there’s strength in numbers.

Du Yong, Yuan Yuan, and another girl had thought about going to the small fish pond to check on Qi Yang and the others, but considering their own limited abilities, they figured they would be useless at best and might even make things worse. So the group decided to find a room to hide in. They had only taken a couple of steps when the kitchen door opened and Number 2 waved to them from inside, inviting them to hide there.

Seeing Number 2’s sincere expression, they all ran over.

She ran into the kitchen, shut the door again and locked it, and Yuan Yuan immediately went to the knife rack and grabbed a kitchen knife. It wasn’t that there weren’t other small knives or fruit knives, but Yuan Yuan directly chose the cleaver.

Seeing the thin Yuan Yuan holding the cleaver, Du Yong stared at her for a moment. Yuan Yuan’s cheeks were a little flushed, but she still didn’t put the knife down; if anything, she gripped it tighter.

Du Yong also picked up a knife, and like No.2, he moved to the kitchen window. They didn’t get too close. Worried some ghost might attack from outside the window, they tried to listen for any sounds. The kitchen was a little distance from the small fishpond, and the outside area was open, so if there had been a scuffle they should have heard something. But after listening for a while, they heard nothing.

Du Yong glanced back and exchanged a look with Yuan Yuan; he shook his head slightly, indicating he didn’t know what was going on over there either.

Qi Yang walked up to Number 3, whose neck had been twisted off; this man’s neck had been snapped by Nan Sheng using only one hand. Blackish-red blood flowed from Number 3’s mouth, no longer resembling human blood.

Number 3 was no longer human, and Nan Sheng, who could also snap his neck with one hand, was clearly not a normal person either.

But even though such a bizarre thing happened right in front of him, Qi Yang showed no trace of curiosity.

Kneeling down, Qi Yang reached into pocket number 3 and rummaged around, finding the bead marked with a 3. He held it in his hand; he had intended to slip it into his pocket, but a flash in his eyes made him pick the bead up again. Qi Yang noticed that the number 3 inside the glass marble had a crack running across it.

Why is that?

Qi Yang was pretty puzzled, but he didn’t ask Nan Sheng about it. He took the beads, lifted his eyes and said to Nan Sheng, “Throw the corpse out.” Leaving it here would be unsettling—Qi Yang himself wasn’t afraid, but other players might be so spooked they’d tremble.

Nan Sheng was no different from a tool—Qi Yang told him what to do, and he did it. Grasping the corpse’s arm, he gave a swing, and the body was flung over the wall, landing in the thick snow outside.

Turning around, Qi Yang walked back into the room. After two steps he stopped; when it came to using Nan Sheng as a pawn, he was completely at ease.

“Deal with the blood on the floor as well.” A smile touched Qiyang’s eyes and brows; that smile was more captivating than the snow whirling wildly outside. Nan Sheng had no objection.

Back in the living room, there was no one—more precisely, there were no living players. At the foot of the stairs lay one, the player Number 3 had just strangled to death a few minutes earlier.

Qi Yang wasn’t entirely sure which number the dead player had been. He walked over and searched the body, finding the other’s glass bead—number 11. Qi Yang picked up the bead and examined it closely, noticing the number inside was intact, without any cracks.

Qi Yangwei frowned slightly and thought for a moment.

He didn’t think for long. Qi Yang turned around, saw the kitchen door still closed, and walked over to knock.

A voice from inside, Du Yong: “Who?”

“It’s me, open the door.” Qi Yang said.

Du Yong ran over and was about to open the door when Yuan Yuan stopped him: “What if it’s not Brother Qi?”

It wasn’t that Yuan Yuan suspected Qi Yang; it was that the game had already started, and it was possible someone was disguising their voice as Qi Yang’s.

“It’s fine now, come out.” Qi Yang said again. There was no more sound from inside; Qi Yang thought to himself that they were quite cautious, which was actually better.

But just a few minutes later the kitchen door opened — it was No. 2 who opened it. When they came out and saw Qi Yang sitting alone in the living room, safe and sound, No. 2 was surprised for a moment, then suddenly felt as if this were exactly how it should be.

Qi Yang sat there peeling the fruit on the coffee table and eating, his manner giving the impression that he was an honored guest in this villa, unlike them—who were here forced to play through a deadly game.

Number 2 stepped forward, intending to sit next to Qi Yang; he had a hunch that getting close to Qi Yang could never be wrong.

But then Number 2 stopped, because he sensed a piercing aura behind him. That aura rushed over; Number 2 turned his head to look back.

Nan Sheng, having finished cleaning the blood outside, returned. Seeing Number 2 trying to approach Qi Yang, his expression immediately turned cold. Fortunately, the other party was sensible enough to hold back.

Nan Sheng walked into the living room and noticed there was another corpse under the stairs. It was left there and affecting the scene—Nan Sheng planned to go deal with it as well.

Just as that idea had not yet been put into action, Qi Yang spoke up: “Du Yong, you go help too, move it outside the door.”

Nan Sheng looked at Qi Yang, a small flutter of excitement in his chest. He thought Qi Yang was worried he might overexert himself; in that moment he wanted to go over, pull Qi Yang into his arms, and give him a proper kiss.

There were too many people here, so Nan Sheng planned to wait and do it later.

Du Yong, Nan Sheng, and Number 2 together carried the corpse of Number 11 outside, hauled it through the main gate and tossed it into the snow. When the player’s body hit the ground, the hard surface looked just as it had on some previous day: the ice suddenly parted, revealing cold water beneath. The corpse sank downward, and the snow on top drifted back over, turning the scene into a pure white expanse, with no sign whatsoever that anyone had died.

A few people returned to the room. Du Yong and Number 2 were lightly dressed, and as soon as they entered the living room with the heater on they shivered; by contrast Nan Sheng showed no reaction at all. Du Yong glanced at him out of the corner of his eye, a little curious.

But he didn’t dwell on it—some people really just aren’t bothered by the cold.

Du Yong went to the kitchen to wash his hands; after all, they’d just moved a corpse. When he came back the living room still had the same people. The players who had slipped away to hide probably still didn’t know what was going on downstairs, and Du Yong didn’t immediately go to warn them—those who saw danger at first had run faster than anyone.

Du Yong asked Qi Yang what happened to Number 3 who had chased him. Qi Yang thought up an excuse and said, “He climbed over the wall and ran off.”

“Ran off? He wasn’t—” Want to kill you? Du Yong listened to Qi Yang’s explanation with doubt.

“Don’t know, anyway he wasn’t outside.” No body, so whatever he said Qi Yang could claim.

Du Yong pressed his lips together. He vaguely felt Qi Yang was lying, but when he met Qi Yang’s clear, bright eyes he knew that even if Qi Yang was hiding something, pressing him further wouldn’t make him talk.

“Glad the crisis is over.” Du Yong collapsed onto the sofa and let out a long, heavy breath.

Nan Sheng sat down beside Qi Yang. As he reached out his arm, it ended up stretching behind Qi Yang; he seemed to be developing an increasing craving for skin contact, always wanting to get closer to Qi Yang and pull him into his embrace.

Qi Yang merely glanced at Nan Sheng out of the corner of his eye. This person’s behavior was still within acceptable bounds for now, so he made no move to stop him.

“Let me see your beads,” Qi Yang said, looking at No. 2.

Number Two joked, “If I gave it to you, you wouldn’t not give it back to me, would you?” He glanced left and right at Qi Yang; those places were full of Qi Yang’s people.

“Guess.” Qi Yang smiled, the warmth in his eyes modest.

Number Two laughed twice and said, “I’m not guessing.”

Then he took out his own bead and handed it to Qi Yang.

Qi Yang took it and examined the numbers inside carefully; the numbers were intact, without any cracks.

He handed the bead back to Number 2, tapped his finger twice on his knee, and said to the people sitting in the living room, “The order of death should follow the numbers. As for why you didn’t die yesterday…”

Qi Yang’s voice stopped, and he stared at Number 2.

Number 2 took over the conversation: “That’s because it was passed on to Number 3.”

["post-3336","chapter","type-chapter","status-publish","hentry
["GET
