Chapter 8 Maybe she didn’t check the almanac before going out today. As she went upstairs, in the elevator, she ran into her neighbor again. It was getting late. Wen Tang got out of the car at the apartment entrance, and the driver took Ke Xin and Yang Yang back separately. The elevator came up from the basement level. As the doors opened, Wen Tang saw Zhou Jing Yu again. What kind of fate was this? Three encounters in two days—she couldn’t escape the destiny of meeting in elevators. Wen Tang brushed back her long hair and stepped inside. To prove she wasn’t afraid, she deliberately stood side by side with her new neighbor, standing very close to him. This allowed Wen Tang to get a thorough look at Zhou Jing Yu. Wen Tang made no attempt to hide her scrutinizing gaze as she studied him. That morning, she had already stared at him until she was mesmerized. Looking at him again in the evening, Wen Tang had to admit that his appearance truly hit all her preferences. Whether it was his indifferent brows and eyes, his thin lips, or even his hair strands—everything looked perfect to her. His completely non-aggressive, clean and gentle features made people lower their guard, perfectly matching her aesthetic. But Wen Tang knew this was just an illusion. Her neighbor’s personality was definitely not as pleasant as his appearance. She had already experienced his sharp tongue yesterday. Despite her unrestrained scrutiny, her neighbor didn’t even furrow his brow. What kind of extraordinary psychological resilience was this? “Hey,” Wen Tang said, dissatisfied with his indifference. Zhou Jing Yu only needed about ten minutes to drive from the company back to the apartment. In the elevator, he encountered the new neighbor on his floor again. The new neighbor didn’t seem easy to get along with, but it didn’t matter—it had nothing to do with him. Facing Wen Tang’s deliberate provocation, Zhou Jing Yu finally turned his head. He looked at her with calm, unwavering eyes, as if she was completely insignificant to him. This made Wen Tang feel terrible. She had been a star for so many years, constantly under the spotlight, and was accustomed to people’s attention. He was really good at pretending. “Do you know who I am?” Wen Tang asked, raising her chin arrogantly while suppressing the urge to frown. The frequency of their encounters was simply too high—too high not to raise Wen Tang’s suspicions. It was hard to believe it was coincidence. Could it be intentional? Deliberately making things difficult yesterday, deliberately running into her, all just to win her attention? If that was the explanation, then everything made sense. That must be it! Wen Tang felt she had figured it out, and couldn’t help but become smug. Even her gaze toward Zhou Jing Yu carried an air of superiority. Zhou Jing Yu looked at the stunningly beautiful woman before him. Though her appearance was gorgeous, her thought process seemed rather unusual. Zhou Jing Yu looked at her and confirmed he didn’t recognize her. He spoke calmly and unhurriedly: “Who are you?” He looked completely unfamiliar with her. Wen Tang didn’t believe him. Still pretending! She was extremely confident in her fame. She took a step back, looking flustered and panicked: “You wouldn’t be pretending not to know me just to get my attention, would you?” Just then, the elevator doors opened. “You’re really scary,” Wen Tang said, hurrying out as if fleeing. After walking a few steps and reaching a safe distance, she turned around and warned Zhou Jing Yu: “Don’t appear in front of me again. Stay away from me!” Then she quickly headed home, as if something terrifying was chasing her. What did she mean by that? Watching Wen Tang’s hurried silhouette disappear, even the indifferent Zhou Jing Yu couldn’t help but furrow his brow. Back home, Wen Tang patted her chest, still shaken. With such an appearance, she never expected him to be a pervert! If it were anyone else, it would be one thing, but he was her neighbor. Could he have deliberately bought the apartment next to hers after finding out she lived here? The thought was suffocating. When faced with trouble, normal people instinctively seek someone to confide in. Wen Tang took out her phone. 【One Candy: Just ran into a pervert in the elevator, so scary!!】【One Candy: Wuwuwu, Senior Brother, I’m so scared.】 It wasn’t too much to act cute at a time like this, right? Wen Tang had no mood for anything else. After sending the messages, she sat on the sofa waiting for Gong Yue to reply. Her two cats heard her come home. The black cat jumped directly into her arms, while the white cat gave her a cold glance before continuing to lick its paws on the shelf. Zhou Jing Yu had just walked through the door when he received a message from his blind date. He took it out to look, and couldn’t help but pause. 【Y: Did you call the police? There’s surveillance in the elevator. Get the footage from the property management and then call the police.】【Y: If you encounter a pervert, don’t let it slide. Girls need to learn to protect themselves.】 This was the longest thing Gong Yue had ever said to her, and it was two sentences!
